Blue-green algae

Blue-green algae (also known as Cyanobacteria) are a group of plant organisms commonly found in salt water and in some of the larger fresh water lakes as well. Blue-green algae are in the phylum of bacteria that tends to get its energy via photosynthesis. Blue-green algae is sometimes used as a natural cure, home remedy, herbal & vitamin supplement, and home remedy for a myriad of different maladies.

Other names for Blue-green algae include: Algas Verdiazul, Bleu-Vert, Anabaena, Hawaiian Spirulina, Microcystis aeruginosa, Spirulina Fusiformis, platensis, maxima, and Lyngbya wollei.

 

Health Benefits of Blue-green algae

 

Blue-green algae are sometimes used as a dietary supplement for protein, iron, and B-vitamins. They are also somewhat popular as a supplement for weight loss. Other conditions which have been claimed to have some medicinal value as a home remedy include: ADHD, diabetes, fatigue, depression & anxiety, PMS, hayfever, and stress. That being said, there appears to be insufficient scientific basis for believing that any of these ailments will be noticeable affected by consuming Blue-green algae.

Some people also use blue-green algae as a natural treatment for growths inside that mouth that may be precancerous in nature, for boosting one’s immunity, for increased metabolism & energy, for the prevention of heart disease, for wound treatment, for improving bowel problems, and for improving poor memory.

Blue-green algae have been noted by many as being a strong source of protein. However, its protein content is probably comparable to common milk or meat products. And common milk and meat products are exponentially more cheap than blue-green algae supplements.
