Bacillus coagulans

Unlike the most of this data base, Bacillus coagulans is actually a type of bacteria. Contrary to common belief, not all bacteria are bad. Bacillus coagulans is a type of probiotic. Probiotics are considered a beneficial type of bacteria. This lactic acid-forming bacterial species is often used as a home remedy. It is considered to be relatively safe; the EFSA has added Bacillus coagulans to their qualified presumption of safely list and it has been given the green light for use in the veterinary field. The bacteria are often used as microbial for the production of livestock.

 

Health Benefits of Bacillus coagulans

 

The probiotic is generally used as a home remedy for things like traveler’s diarrhea and forms of diarrhea precipitated by antibiotics. It is also used to combat things like IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) and IBD (Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis) and Clostridium difficile colitis. It is said to improve abdominal discomfort in general and increase immunity response during a viral infection. It is also said to be effective against respiratory infections.
