With all the snake oil in the alternative medicine business, it seems vital to known which herbs have actual health benefits. Herbs that have been approved by the FDA may be the best way to find out which herbs have actual medicinal value. Now, many herbs and alternative medical practices may have legitimate medicinal value, however, one that is approved by the Food and Drug Administration are a great deal more likely to have been tested thoroughly and fairly conclusively been seen to have some effect in scientific and medical studies.
Here are a few that have been approved by the FDA for very specific uses:
- Soy (soybean): To treat high cholesterol, soy has been approved by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration)
- Senna: The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved the use of Senna as a non-prescriptive herbal dietary supplement to be used as a natural laxative.
- More to be added soon, please leave a comment if you know of any additional herbs or supplements that have been approved by the FDA.
